The Theory

Students will attend classes online, learning skills such as website creation, public speaking, creative writing, graphic design, cooking, debating, video editing, entrepreneurial skills, career development, sales and marketing, critical thinking, financial literacy, budgeting, persuasion techniques, and many more important life skills.

But here’s the secret: teachers will not be teaching all these subjects in isolation. Behind the scenes, all the subjects are connected and linked, leading onto a real-world style — The “Grand Project”

Lower level students (aged 5-11) will learn the following (among other) skills:

Public Speaking: Students are taught skills to make sure they are confident when they are conversing with others. They are taught how to be clear and articulate, how to engage the audience, while also learning presentation skills.

Cooking: An introduction to some of the basics to make treats like banoffee or learning to prepare a meal e.g. fajitas or preparing snacks for a party.

Calligraphy: Students are taught English calligraphy and brush control skills to enhance handwriting in a creative manner. It also helps to develop fine motor skills and memory retention.

Arts and Crafts: Exploring creativity using basic household items. Craft activities might get a little messy, but don’t worry, arts and crafts are brilliant for developing little minds and bodies. So, what’s a few paint stains compared to great creativity!

Coding: Learn how to do some simple programming. Having more than one technical skill is very important. Specifically, in the tech world, things change very dramatically and it’s important that children have multiple computer/internet skills or technical skills so they can use them whenever they will need them in the future.

Critical Thinking: In a world where you’re more likely to read fake news as opposed to real news, it has never been more important to be able to think critically. Students will learn how to compare and contrast ideas, understand why and how things happen, evaluate ideas and form opinions, make predictions and decisions.

Additional: Student will also learn about being mindful, having taqwa and even online safety skills which are much needed in today’s world!

Upper level students (aged 11-20) will learn the following (among other) skills:

Islamic History: Students will be immersed in the world of Muslim victories from across the ages and the globe. From Khalid ibn Waleed (the most notable military commander in early Islamic history), Salah Al-Din (the keeper of the keys of Jerusalem), the conquest of Spain, Constantinople and the Mongols and the likes.

They will use the knowledge gained from these sessions to inspire design an islamic video game and create meaningful content to appeal to a market that’s been neglected in the world of gaming.

Business; Planning, Marketing and Sales: Here, the students are taught how to launch their business. These sessions include understanding what needs to be considered in a business plan, as well coming up with their own marketing campaign to give their product the best chance at succeeding.

Budgeting and Finance: In these sessions, students will be taught how to manage their finances, as well as consider the costs linked to the product. They will be learning to budget and exploring what will and will not be feasible for their launch. They’ll also be given an insight into managing their own personal finances too.

Coding: Coding is a world full of creation and innovation. In these workshops, they’ll be learning how to construct your own website and adapting it to their product. In a digital age, it’s now more important than ever to ensure that they can contact a global audience wherever they may be.

Graphic Design: In today’s day and age, graphic design plays an integral part in catching the attention of their consumer. Here students are taught what’s necessary for an advertisement, as well as a video game cover while trying to make it look as slick as possible. They say not to judge something by its cover, but in a world dependent on aesthetics and visuals, it’s one way to appeal to their market.

Video Editing: With the rise of visuals and vlogging, video-editing is a skill that’s essential. Students will be taught how to create their very own video game trailer or advert. By the end of the series, they would have a head start on creating seamless content that appeals to their fellow gamers.

Public Speaking: To help prepare students’ presentations for the judges, they’ll be taught the skills necessary to perform publicly. Students will be focusing on tone, body language, rhetorical language devices and the likes.

Critical Thinking: In a world where children are more likely to read fake news as opposed to real news, it has never been more important to be able to think critically. Here students will explore how language is manipulated and ideologies are reinforced, all while ensuring they can use it to their advantage when pitching their games.

Debating: When it comes to the Dragon’s Den style panel, it’s not just the students’ product that will catch the attention of their judges. It’s important to be able to think on the spot and argue their case. Not only does this support their presentation itself, allowing them to perform with confidence, but it’s a vital life-long skill that’s undervalued in the competitive world that awaits your child.
